Paul SWEENY Obituary
94, of Holiday died at home December 25, 2018. He was born in 1924 in Upland, PA. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 31 years, Catherine Taylor Sweeny; his parents; and two brothers; and a sister.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Ruth Q. Sweeny; children Nancy (Walter) Stetter of Delaware, Paul C (Ellen) Sweeny of Pennsylvania, Jean (William) Adams of Florida, David (Laura) Sweeny of Illinois and Robert (Sandi) Sweeny of Iowa; 14 grandchildren; and 37 great grandchildren.
He moved to Illinois with his family in 1970. He worked for BP Chemicals as a Chemical Technician in Plastics. He retired in 1988 and moved to Holiday, FL.
He was a faithful servant of His Lord Jesus Christ since 1944 at Norfolk, VA. He was active in various churches he attended: choir, sunday school and as a part of the lawn crew.
During WWII he served as a Communications Expert in the U.S. Navy on a mine sweeper USS Pheasant (AM61) at the U.S. invasion of Normandy.
In his spare time he was an avid fisherman and bowler.
There will be a viewing at 10 am and a Celebration of Life Service at 11 am, Saturday at First Baptist Church of New Port Richey, FL 6800 Trouble Creek Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made the Building Fund at First Baptist Church of New Port Richey.
Burial will be at Lawn Croft Cemetery in Marcus Hook, PA.
