Rene Sergio RODRIGUEZ Jr.

RODRIGUEZ, Rene Sergio JR., 76, passed away on January 10, 2013 with his loving family by his side due to complications of heart failure. Beloved father and husband, Rene was known as "Sonny" to his family and friends growing up in Tampa, Fla. A graduate of Hillsborough High School, he received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida and a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Tennessee. Rene began his career working at the Union Carbide facility in Oak Ridge, TN where he met his wife of 52 years, Therese Annette Rowan, in 1959. He and his wife returned to Florida in 1969 where he began his career as a mathematics professor, first at the University of Florida and then at the University of Central Florida, where he retired in 2007. He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed traveling with his wife in their RV. Over the years, he guided many students to master calculus and complex equations. He was a loving father and a devoted husband. He was preceded in death by his father, Rene S. Rodriguez Sr. and his mother, Josephine Suarez Rodriguez, both of Tampa. In addition to his wife Annette, he is survived by his brother, Dennis Milton Rodriguez of Las Vegas, NV, daughter Arianne Brupbacher of Longwood, Fla., son, Monte Rodriguez of Tampa, Fla., daughters Eileen Windham of Winter Park, Fla. and Lisa Rodriguez of London, England, and six grandchildren. He will be remembered and missed by all. Services will be held on Sunday, January 13 at the Boza and Roel funeral home, 4730 N Armenia Ave from 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral will be held on Monday, Jan. 14 at 10:00am at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Tampa, Florida.
