Charles John Arndt III

1937 - 2016

July 2, 1937 - May 21, 2016 Charles John Arndt, III of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bettie Hagan Arndt and Charles John Arndt, Jr. as well as his beloved wife, Ann Fulcher Arndt, who died on May 1, 2016. Mr. Arndt is survived by his children Julie Arndt Russell (Bill Crunk) and Charles John Arndt, IV (Margaret) and grandchildren Andrew Robert Russell (Dorothy) and Laura Rachel Russell. For over 30 years, Mr. Arndt was the proprietor of Charles Arndt Custom Apparel in downtown Birmingham. He was active in the Downtown Action Committee, Rotary Club of Birmingham and Forest Park Neighborhood Association, where he served as President. He was in the first class of Leadership Birmingham. Mr. and Mrs. Arndt were active members of St. Mary's-on-the-Highlands Episcopal Church for over 35 years. Mr. Arndt served on the vestry, was an usher and lay reader and participated in Cursillo. A memorial service will be held in the garden of St. Mary's on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at 4:45pm. The family would like to thank the caregivers of Greenbriar at The Altamont for the loving care they provided to Mr. Arndt.
