Richard Beeman Obituary

Beeman, Richard "Dick"

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." ~ Winston Churchill

passed away peacefully Sunday, August 10, 2025. Richard was born in Kansas City and moved to St. Petersburg in 1953. His father, Eugene Beeman, was a high school Band Director and his mother, Doris Beeman, built a thriving real estate business in Pinellas. The Beeman's loved to travel, were deeply committed to their faith, and valued family and community service. Richard graduated from St. Petersburg High in 1963. He joined the Navy shortly after, attending Basic Training then medical COR School, and served several tours on the USS Bayfield. He returned to Tampa to attend the University of South Florida alongside his two brothers, John and Dan Beeman. He graduated in 1972 and became a paramedic field consultant for the Florida Division of Health. Shortly after, Richard led the Emergency Medical Services program launch in Broward County, which became a model for EMS programs across the state. He also earned a Masters of Public Administration from Golden Gate University, and returned to Tampa-St. Petersburg where he met the love of his life, Joan Beeman. Joan was a nurse in the NICU at Tampa General Hospital and Richard was a Systems & Technology Manager for Department of Children and Family Services. With a strong faith and love of family as their foundation, they adopted an infant from the NICU in 1985 (Nicholas), showering him with unconditional love and unending support. Despite Richard's success, he prioritized family above all else and maintained a deep sense of grace and humility, serving as a role model for those who knew him. More simply, Richard inspired us to be better humans. For more than two decades, Richard and Joan volunteered tirelessly at Grace Lutheran Church in Tampa. They considered the Grace congregation an extension of their family. To honor Richard, the family suggests making a donation to the Grace Lutheran Memorial Fund. Checks can be mailed to: PO Box 274242 Tampa, FL 33688
