Robert MOORE Obituary

MOORE, Robert Joseph Sr. "Bob"

72, of Tampa, FL, passed away Friday, September 22, 2017, surrounded by family and friends after a courageous and lengthy battle.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, on January 25, 1945, Bob grew up in West Virginia before moving to Tampa. A graduate of Jesuit High School, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and the Florida National Guard and was a Vietnam veteran. Bob loved the mountains of North Carolina and considered Blowing Rock his second home. He had always been a mentor and friend to many in our community and someone others turned to for advice or help.

Bob is survived by his wife of nearly 46 years, Dottie; his two children, Pam (Ben) McCoy and Robert (Ashley) Moore; brother, Jeff (Sandy) Moore; nephew, Jay Garcia; nieces, Lynsay Moore and Carrie Deyo; and many loving cousins. He was the most special "Papa" to Peyton and Preston McCoy and Jackson and Dylan Moore. Bob is preceded in death by his father, Robert Preston Moore; his mother, Theresa "Kitty" Florence Moore; and brother, Gary Allen Moore.

A visitation will be held Friday, September 29, 2017, at 9 am with a funeral Mass to follow at 10 am at Christ the King Catholic Church, Tampa. Interment with military honors will be 1 pm at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

The family thanks BayCare and St. Joseph's Hospital for their dedication and compassion.

I was traveling overseas when I heard that Bob had passed away. He was both a friend and an "IT/Computer" buddy. I enjoyed so many lunches with him at 220 East. He loved his family, his country, and was a true friend to me.

The Moore family is in our prayers. Bob was a great guy. Too bad we only got to see him 1 week a year. I still remember the rides on the catamaran he gave us kids many years ago. God bless you.

Bob was a caring friend who loved his family and faith. We met him because of business and appreciated his expertise with computers.
