I well remember Bobby with very fond memories. From the house on Central Ave. with Corces' ? market "IGA" across the street to the organ that Bobby played with accomplishment to campaigning for him to his presence on the bench to his ever so ready and enjoyable sense of humor. I was always introduced by Mrs. Simms as her "other son". My reason for brother. Long live Joe, Russel "Boogie Lee' and Bobby. May 7 2021.

Dear Mrs. Simms & Family: I had the pleasure of practicing before his Honor as a new lawyer. In fact, Judge Simms swore me in as a lawyer in 1996. Mrs. Simms you were there in his courtroom. You may remember I was in a wheelchair from a recently broken leg. Judge Simms was an Honorable and kind man. I will never forget his professionalism and teachings. I'm so sorry about your loss. I learned of his passing in the Florida Criminal Law Journal. Again, my family and I will keep you in our prayers. G-d Bless, Orlando & Lisa Gonzalez

I worked with Judge many times while I was employed at the 13th Judicial, in the Court Communications & Technology office. Any time that I worked with Judge he always had a smile and wanted as much information that I would give him about computers. I’m so sorry to hear about his passing, he will not be forgotten. Please pass on my deepest sympathies to your family.

Jackie-
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I wish by saying I was sorry would ease your pain but it won't. It's been a while since we have spoken and I hope you are doing well. Your father was a good man. He will be remembered for the good he has done. Now it is your turn to carry on his legacy. My sincerest apologies, Anolan Alcala-Page (SAO Summer OPS)

The Simms Family:
He called me New Hampshire. I think that it was easier than trying to pronounce my last name correctly. I will forever remember my favorite HCC instructor for his humor, wit and loving, entertaining stories about his family. I'll never forget how he took me aside one night after class and urged me to further my education beyond a paralegal degree, to go on to law school. My husband, a TPD officer, would often go to Judge to sign his search warrants. Each time, Judge would ask him if New Hampshire had signed up for law school yet. My deepest sympathies go out to your family and please find some comfort in the knowledge that he truly adored the both of you.

I had the pleasure of appearing before Judge Simms on many occasions. He was always well prepared, professional, direct, and decisive. More importantly, he often understood the nuances of the cases before him. This understanding helped him to reach the right decision, in harmony with the legally corrrect decision. He often gave me encouragement and advice on my courtroom deamanor and my law practice. I was shocked to learn of his passing, and i pray for his friends and family.

I was a student in Judge Simms' class last semester. I only had the priviledge of being in his class once. He was a very good instructor, he had a way of keeping everyone's attention. He inspired & encouraged me to keep with my current studies. It meant so much. He spoke of his wife & daughter often in class, of how much he loved both of them & how proud he was of them. I just thought it would be nice for them to know that.

My deepest sympathies go to you, Rosalee and your daughter Jackie and extended families. I am a 1964 graduate of Hillsborough High School and a long time resident and employee of the City of Temple Terrace. I didn't know you all well but remember you from high school and from your family's incredible reputation in the City of Temple Terrace as well as the Tampa area. I know you are shocked, reeling from the loss, and wondering why this has happened and how your life will be without him. I too lost a husband (Tom Lewis - Temple Terrace Police Officer) in 1984 to a heart attack and know well how difficult this is. My prayers and thoughts will be with you in the coming days and always. I know your love of Bob, your faith, and those who care about you all will get you through the days ahead.
With deepest regrets, Florence Lewis

I knew Mr. Simms only from knowing his professional contributions. What I want to share with his wife and family and friends is that I understand sudden loss. There is nothing more shocking especially for someone so young. In November I lost my nephew, his wife and two young children in a head-on car accident. I would like to offer you to email me if you need to talk. There are resources available that have helped me. Please know my prayers will be with you through this difficult time. Bob's contibution to this community will not be forgotten. Thank you.

Dear Rosalee and Jacqueline,
I was an assistant public defender twice assigned to Judge Simms' division. He was one of the finest judges on the bench in Hillsborough County. He had an amazing ability to discern the truth and do what was fair in the cases that came before him. He had the courage to do what was right, even if it was unpopular. He treated the people that worked in his courtroom and appeared in his courtroom, including the criminal defendants, with dignity and courtesy. He was not, however, afraid to temper that with just punishment. He respected and embraced the Constitution, the role of the courts, and the ethical obligations of members of the bar. He was a truly remarkable judge. When all the ethical controversies among the Hillsborough judiciary were brewing, many of us often said that there was one judge we knew we'd never read about in the papers, and that was, of course, Judge Simms. He truly represented the highest ideals of the justice system. It was an honor to practice law in front of him and I am truly grateful for all that he taught me, through words and deeds, as an attorney and as a person.
My heart goes out to you both during this sad time. He will be sadly missed by many people.
Sincerely, Marie-Louise Samuels Parmer
