Roger Beckner

BECKNER, Roger Eugene Jr. of Inverness, FL passed away at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL on December 11, 2020 at the age of 75. Roger was born to the late Mary Bertha Hinchliffe and Roger Eugene Beckner, Sr. in Gainesville, TX on December 4, 1945. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he became a Contractor and owned and operated the family construction business. He was actively involved working with the third generation of family members up until his passing. Roger held both a pilot's license and helicopter license and enjoyed flying in his spare time. He also loved riding his Harley and boating. Those left to mourn Roger's passing include his loving wife of four years, Lee Beckner; son, Roger "R.E." Beckner III and his wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Jacob Beckner and his wife, Andie, Zane Beckner, Kaleb Beckner, Aubrey Beckner; and great-granddaughter, Scout Ryan Beckner. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gay Anne Wheeler Beckner in 2007; and his son, Mark Wheeler Beckner in 2002. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled for Monday, December 21, 2020 at 11 am at the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home in Inverness and will be conducted by Bishop Dr. Douglas Alexander Sr. of the New Church Without Walls, Lecanto. Following the chapel service, full military honors will be rendered by Inverness VFW #4337 Honor Guard. Friends are invited to join the family in visitation beginning at 10 am until the hour of service. Roger will be laid to rest with his family at Memorial Park Cemetery in Pinellas Park at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family has designated Florida Vascular Foundation; 6816 Southpoint Parkway, Suite 1000; Jacksonville, FL 32211 for memorial contributions in Roger's name.
