Ronald JACKSON Obituary

JACKSON, Ronald Gregory 72, of Tampa, Florida was lost too soon December 16, 2020. A Tampa native, he was known to his friends as "Action Jackson," not only due to his vibrant personality but also his legacy on the basketball court. He was a star basketball player at Hillsborough High School from 1964 to 1966. He was voted the #1 basketball player in Florida and named an "All American" in 1966. He received a scholarship to Auburn University, where he continued his love of basketball and majored in Business Administration. His entire career was spent in the tile industry working for Gulf Tile Distributors, Flooring America, Floors 2000, and his own company, Decorative Tile Imports. Ron was always a bright light that stood out in a crowd at 6'5". He always made people laugh with his quick wit and loved making new friends wherever he went. He loved people and had a network of friends that one could only hope for in their lifetime. He loved to cook for everyone, Southern style, just like his mom. He had plans to travel the world once this pandemic passed. He adored his dogs, decorating for Christmas, and all things exotic. He loved sports, always watching golf, and traveling to games to cheer on his grandkids. Most of all, he was a loving and devoted father of Tiffany Sperry and husband, Joshua, and proud PaPa of grandchildren, Trinity, Jackson, and Tessa. He was like a brother to cousins Linda and Ken Roberts and Betty Couch. He is predeceased by his father, Herman Jackson, and mother, Lottie Jackson-Epperson. His life was a blessing to so many family and friends, who will always remember his charm, laughter, and unconditional friendship. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor in January 2021, with more information to come online.

Ronnie and I were friends at Cleveland Elementary and in the neighborhood until the 5th grade when I moved. We would gather and sell Mistletoe house to house and split the proceeds. We stayed acquainted through Sligh Jr Hi and at Hillsborough High. He was a great basketball player and will be missed b all that knew him. Rest in peace.

I send my deepest condolences to Ron Jackson’s family. My last memory was before COVID-19 we had a very fun lunch at Iavarone’s. We laughed a lot about old times and new. He always talked about how much he loves his daughter and family. Ron had a great life. I believe he is resting with God where he is supposed to be as painful as it is.
