of Tampa, passed on November 8, 2025 at the age of 81. A local native born in Ybor City, Ruben attended Jefferson High School where he met and married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Celia. They were married for over 62 years. He proudly worked for Delta Air Lines for over 40 years spending time in Tampa and Atlanta. A graduate of USF, he was also a Mason, Shriner, and Scottish Rite member. After retiring from Delta, he went to work for the Pinellas County School System helping families in need. He served as a board member for AdventHealth North Pinellas Volunteers. A loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, coworker, friend and neighbor, he will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Ruben is survived by his wife, Celia; daughter, Alyson; son, Kevin; granddaughters, Lauren Cannistra, Lindsey Cannistra, and Adrianna Rodriguez, and beloved pet, Margie. He is predeceased in life by his parents, Jose and Romelia; brothers, Rene and Roland; and daughter, Laura. A kind man with a generous soul, he perpetually found ways to help others while always staying active, leaving a legacy of joy and purpose. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Angelus Inc., located in Hudson, Florida. The Angelus provides residential services for the disabled. At his request, there will be no services.
