CHESLEY, Russell III

age 72, passed away on December 18, 2017 at South Florida Baptist Hospital after a two-year battle with lung cancer. He is preceded in death by his former spouse, Pamela Fair Gross; his mother, Elsie Jones Adams; and his father Russell Chesley Jr. He was born on May 30, 1945 in Montgomery, Alabama, and was raised in Columbus, Georgia. Russell played guard for Clearwater High School's football team from 1962 to 1963. He joined the Marine Corps at the age of 18 and proudly served in the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines infantry battalion in Vietnam. Subsequently, he had a successful career as an insurance salesman with Poppell Insurance, Inc. and Florida Insurance Center, in Plant City, Florida. He is survived by his daughters, Josie Megan Thompson (29) and Cassie Fay Chesley Henrriquez (27); sons-in-law, Derek Thompson and Jorge Fuentes Henrriquez; sisters, Martha Hughes, Angela Dillow, and Elsie Janice Carter; his brother, Russell Harry Chesley; and his stepmother, Renee Chesley. Services will be held February 13, at 2 pm, at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., Saint Petersburg, FL 33708.
