Ruth Parrish Obituary

PARRRISH, Ruth M., 95, beloved mother, proud grandmother, and trea-sured friend, formerly of Tampa, passed away on October 21, 2015 at Bayfront Health in St. Petersburg. Born in 1920 in Salt Lake City, UT, she was the daughter of an Army Colonel and his wife and, as a result, traveled extensively during her child-hood and had many stories to tell. She was prede-ceased by her husband, Stanley N. Parrish and son-in-law, Donald C. Shulman. "Ruthie" was a University of Michigan graduate and a member of the Order of the Rose of Alpha Xi Delta, which formerly had a chap-ter there. She participated in the Story Corps project when it came to St. Peters-burg, and a portion of her interview was broadcast on WUSF-FM. She adored her children and grandchildren, loved her red lipstick, and enjoyed crab cakes, beer, and a good laugh. Survived by daughter, Paula Parrish, St. Petersburg, FL; son, David Parrish (Trish) and granddaughter, Alex of San Antonio, FL; son, James Parrish (Barbara) and grandchildren, Sarah, Jimmy, and Libby of Charlotte, NC. If you had the chance to know Ruthie, please recall a wonderful memory or two you have about her that makes you smile. A graveside funeral service will be held on Sunday Oct 25, 2015 at 2pm at Myrtle Hill Ceme-tery, 4002 N 50th St., Tampa 33610. In lieu of flowers, please make a gift to the charity of your choice.

I am so saddened by the loss of my friend Ruthie. I will miss the time we had together every other Saturday as she sat in my chair to have her hair done. We had so much fun for that hour or so we shared for 18 years. Ruthie always made me laugh....her quick wit was so much of her huge personality. There is so much I love about Ruthie that I will keep with me as I grow older because I want to enjoy life, have fun, be positive, make the best of the day, add a little bit of dramatics to each day and always wear my lipstick because lipstick makes us
look better.
My heartfelt thoughts are with the family. Paula.... Thank you for bringing your Mom to me all these years. Without that...I would not have known such an awesome beautiful friendship that I will cherish forever and ever.
I love you Ruthie. Maxine

We will sorely miss one of the most wonderful people we have ever known. Her quick wit, inner beauty and red lipstick were incomparable.

We will especially miss tales of Ruth seeking counsel from Paula, and tales of Paula's reactions to her queries.

This great lady's life was truly a blessing.
