Stephen Cabrera Obituary

CABRERA, Stephen "Esteban" Del Valle, 83, "a member of the greatest generation," died October 12, 2005. He was born August 31, 1922, in Ybor City, Tampa, on the northeast corner of 7th Avenue and 12th Street. He served in World War II with the "Mighty" 8th Air Force, 446 Bomb Group and 704 Bomb Squadron, stationed in England. He was decorated with the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters and four Battle Stars, air offensive Europe, Northern France, Southern France, D-Day June 6, 1944. He was a four-time commander of Seminole Post III The American Legion and was awarded a lifetime membership. He was employed by Tampa Electric Co. for 39 years and retired as a supervisor in the account service department. He is survived by his wife, Liliana; three daughters, Cynthina Rodriguez, Sharon Cabrera, and Patricia Ann Ciccarello and husband Rene; a son, Stephen and wife Marie; one stepdaughter, Justina A. Ferrera; four sisters, Margaret Taylor, Jasmine Cabrera, Hilda Garc ia, and Martha Menendez and husband Charles; one brother, Gilbert Cabrera and wife Alaida; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, especially Esmeralda Boan, and many nephews and nieces. Visitation for Stephen will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday, October 16, with a wake service scheduled at 7 p.m. at Gonzalez Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, October 17, at the funeral home with interment at Garden of Memories immediately following. His pallbearers include Gilbert Cabrera, Stephen G. Cabrera, Stephen G. Cabrera Jr., Rene A. Ciccarello Sr., Charles Menedez Sr., Charles Menedez Jr. and Robert Taylor. Gonzalez Funeral Home 7209 N. Dale Mabry Highway Tampa, Fla.
