Sylvia Poe Obituary

Poe, Sylvia Trellis Hill "Trel"

passed away at the age of 84 on July 29, 2025, in Buford, Georgia. Trellis was born in Winter Haven and remained in Florida for most of her life. She loved her work and devoted much of her life to helping others, including 30 years with Pinellas County Schools and many years working with youth at First Baptist Church of Safety Harbor and Palm Harbor United Methodist Church. Trellis also served on the Board of Directors at Achieva Credit Union for over 20 years.

Trellis lived a rich life devoted to her family, friends, travel, and service. She was an avid reader and expressed her creativity through hobbies like cross-stitching, sewing, and writing. She also dabbled in acting, participating in student films and skits at church. Her faith and her ministry in the church were incredibly meaningful to her, and through them, she enriched the lives of many. Her sense of humor, caring spirit, and joyful style made a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She is survived by her brother, Wayne Hill (Peggy); children, Scott Poe (Pam) and Marla Dufek (Andy); grandchildren, Sarah Jones (Lutfur), Alex Poe, and David Jones (Alicia); and her great-grandchild, Rubi Jones-Miah.

A memorial service will be held October 25 at 11:30 am at Curlew Hills Memory Gardens in Palm Harbor. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Youth Ministry at Palm Harbor United Methodist Church or the Emory Goizueta Alzheimer's Disease Research Center.
