Tawney Jones

JONES, Tawney Siviter 74, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on April 28, 2024, holding hands with her husband and two daughters. She was born on August 13, 1949, in St. Petersburg and attended St. Petersburg High School and Florida State Univeristy, where she received a bachelor's degree in education and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Tawney was a member of the Junior League of St. Petersburg, First Presbyterian Church, and The Debutante Club of St. Petersburg. She taught mathematics at Disston Junior High School and was the Vice-President and co-owner of California Closets, from which she retired after 30 years. Tawney was an avid fan of the Florida State Seminoles and the Tampa Bay Rays. She was an excellent cook (known for her Bishop's Bread at Christmas), and enjoyed gardening, word games, bird watching, walking her granddog Muffin, traveling, and spending time with family. She was predeceased by her mother, Helen Childs Siviter; her father, Robert E. Siviter; and her siblings, William Siviter and Barbara Siviter Keller. Her selfless, loving, and gentle spirit will be sorely missed by her husband, John Paul Jones; her daughters, Melissa White Kidwell and Stephanie White Doyle and husband Dino Doyle; her grandchildren, Kaitlyn Tawney Kidwell, Easton Kidwell, Livia Tawney Doyle, and Declan Doyle; and her husband's children, Tyler Jones, Garrett Jones, and Natalie Storch, and seven grandchildren. Tawney lived her life with love, dignity and grace, which will forever be an inspiration to her family and friends. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Anderson McQueen, 2201 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Street North, St. Petersburg, on Saturday, May 18 at 11:30 am, followed by a memorial service at noon, officiated by Rev. Art Ross. A private interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to Moffitt Cancer Center or Suncoast Hospice. Anderson McQueen
