Timothy CHITWOOD Obituary
Harris 65, passed away from complications from heart surgery Oct. 15, 2015. After receiving his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida in 1973, Tim joined his father Joie Chitwood Sr., one of the worlds most recognized names in the racing and automobile stunt driving industry; and his older brother, Joie Chitwood Jr., to embark on a memorable career spanning over 40 years. Ranked as the number one stunt driver in 1994, Tim performed in over 70 movies such as Live and Let Die, Last Action Hero, and Robocop. He performed on television and his live show crisscrossed the United States performing amazing automobile stunts and precision driving skills to thousands of adoring fans. After retirement, Tim loved fishing, collecting coins, working on cars, and "fixing things"... but his true passion always remained in stunt driving, where he continued to work special events and mentored younger drivers. He is survived by his committed partner, Jamie Burrows; his son, Timothy Jr.; his brother, Joie Chitwood Jr; and his nephew, Joie Chitwood III. An intimate family memorial service will be held Nov. 12, to celebrate his life as Tim is placed next to his father, Joie Chitwood Sr. and his mother, Marie Chitwood at Showmen's Rest in Tampa.

I worked for the Chitwood show from 1967 to1976. as well as on movies in the 80's and 90's. I tuned up his thrill show Corvette one day and I rode with him to test it on a 1/2 mile paved track. He had it sideways thru every turn, full control. That's when I learned what REAL driving was! Tim was a great guy and a true friend. RIP

I drove for ambassador limo thirty years ago and had the pleasure of driving Tim and learning all about his family and history on his was to his buddy Doug´s " Doug Danger " what a great guy he was very kind , sorry to hear of his passing ... Mary

To my fellow math assistant for Mrs. Rinaldo, and good friend in High School. I was the "Ford" man and Chitwood was the "Chevy" man. Enjoyed watching Tim practice driving on 2 wheels with a Chevy Nova back in 64'.
I remember watching the Thrill show at the NC State fair in Raleigh. Tim would send me by overnite Fedex credentials to drive through the state fair to the infield where they prepared for the show. And a show it was. Awesome! Laura (who lived 3 doors down from ya in Dana Shores) and I will miss ya buddy.

My deepest sympathy to Joie, Jr. and all the family. I remember Timmy as a young boy when I was with the Kovaz Thrill Show (as Duchess Duncan) and he was such fun. He will be missed. It has been many years since we all were hell-driving but I've never forgotten the family. He'll make a great guardian angel.
