Trey Curry Obituary

CURRY, Trey, went to a better place March 1, 2008. Trey was very proud to be Clifton Conrad Curry III because of his love and admiration for his grandfather, dad and family. In the short 20 years he was with us, he made many friends and helped many people get through difficult times. Trey was a young man who had a great enjoyment for life and loved the people that crossed his path. Many say he never met a person he didn' t like. That feeling was returned in kind. Everyone loved Trey. He will be remembered throughout eternity for his consideration for others and acts of kindness but most of all for the "bear bugs" he gave all his close friends and family when greeting them. While some may live for many years without learning from life' s experiences, Trey learned each day from the simple joys and responsibilities, sharing with others and was a great teacher. An inspiration to all who knew him, his memory will be evidence of God' s continuing blessing. He is survived by his parents, Terry and Clif; his brother and sister, Colton and Mary Beth; his grandparents, Clif and Louise Curry, and Betty Cox; his aunt and uncles, Carole and Steve Jenkins, and Douglas Cox; his cousins, Laura and Stephen Jenkins, Chiffon Bogue and Carl Cox; and several great-aunts and great-uncles. He was predeceased by his grandfather, M. Doug Cox. Trey attended Hillsborough Community College and Tallahassee Community College, graduated in 2006 from Newsome High School, graduated in 2002 from his Mom' s school, Brandon Academy. Trey was a true Seminole, attending Florida State University games since he was very young. He played golf with Coach Bobby Bowden and went to most FSU home games with his family. He was a member of the Tampa Catholic High School junior varsity football team as a freshman and played for the varsity team as a freshman. He played baseball at South Brandon Little League for many seasons. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved fishing, hunting, snow skiing and golfing with his friends and family members. Pallbearers will be Colton Curry, Matt Truman, Kyle Jimenez, Brett Lemox, John Greene, Brian Tweed, Billy Ryan, Richie Gurda, Austin Burdick and George Ivanhoff. Honorary pallbearers will be Bing, Bryan and Barry Kearney, John Noriega, Ed Lemox, Sheriff David Gee, Dr. Greg Henderson, Dan King, Jim Taylor, Mark Proctor, Cole Jeffries, Judge Manual Menedez, Judge Mark Wolfe, Judge Rex Barbas, Judge Greg Holder, Judge Chet Tharpe, Judge Nick Nazaritan, Alan Schnieder, Pat Barry, Steve Watson, Mayor Dick Greco, Jeff Reynolds, Rick McDougald and Randy Conte and Tom Lee. Trey was born in Brandon January 7, 1988. The family has established The Trey Curry Foundaton in his honor to assist children in the Brandon area who are in need. The family requests donations be made to "The Trey Curry Foundation" at Platinum Bank, 802 W. Lumsden Road, Brandon FL 33511. A celebration of Trey' s life will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, at Bell Shoals Baptist Church, 2102 Bell Shoals Road, Brandon.

Trey, I can't believe its been 2 1/2 months. Please continue to watch down over all of us. We need your strength and love. Continue to keep us safe. Help us to be strong and know that you are always with us. I love you so much. I miss you more than you will ever know. Your parents have been out of the country and I have been in NC and haven't seen them in a long time and it has made this that much harder. Being around your family gives me peace and I feel you when I am with them. Rest in peace.

Clif & Terry-

I am deeply sorry for the loss of your son. My family knew Trey from his days at SBLL and his love for his friends was evident every step he took. Having a son Trey's age makes this loss feel very devastating. I wish you the best and hope over time the healing process allows you to overcome.

Mr. and Mrs. Curry, Marybeth and Colton,
My entire family's thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. Although I hadn't seen Trey since I used to babysit for him when he was in elementary school at Brandon Academy, my memories are of a loving, talkative, precious, little boy who loved to give bear hugs, even then. His passing is a great loss to everyone who ever had the chance to know him.
With my deepest sympathy,

Loveda Shoemaker

March 12, 2008

Terry & Clif,
Please know that we are lifting you up in prayer, asking for God's loving presence to sustain you at this time. When I read about Trey's sweetness as a young man I wasn't surprised. What else would we expect from a little guy who insisted on sharing one of his cookies after school ? I found out on that day that a cookie from a little hand that was a bit "grubby" from having fun on the playground, actually tasted better because it was given with love! God bless you all.

Our love and prayers are with you Clif and Terry, and with MaryBeth and Colton. I pray the marvelous memories each of you have of Trey will allow you to find peace. Although Trey will be missed by so many and in so many ways, his loving memory will shine above all. He was always a very special boy!

We are so very sorry for your loss and for missing the service. We were out of town and virtually shocked to hear the news when we returned. We cannot even imagine how difficult this is for you. We will never understand why such a vibrant, strong young man was taken from us, but sometimes God needs them, as well. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I just want you all to know that I too experienced the "hugs" that Trey gave out so lovingly. While I did not see him often, my last "hug" that I received was at the 2008 Charity Golf Classic. I was stressed and he made my day with a GREAT BIG HUG. I am proud that I can be one of the many who received his "hugs". Love to you all!

Dear Curry Family,
I met Trey during his senior year at Newsome, when I was a sophomore. I have to admit he was the most thoughtful guy I think I'd ever met, and his hugs always made my day, no matter how bad those days were. It was so unfortunate that we lost touch when he graduated, but I know there will never be another person who could light up my day like Trey did. I'm so sorry for your loss and I know that Trey was loved by so many people here at Newsome

March 5, 2008

Dear Teri and family, I smiled remembering Trey as a little guy running around under the oak trees at South Brandon LL. That is the only memory I have of Trey, Marybeth and Colton, a baby at the time. I still think of all our kids as that young and carefree, so I was stunned to hear of Trey's passing and just wanted you to know that a person from the past was keeping you in her prayers asking God to give you strength.

Bob and Stephanie Tannenbaum

March 5, 2008

In a beautiful blue lagoon on a clear day, a fine sailing ship spreads its brilliant white canvis in a fresh morning breeze and sails out to the open sea. We watch him glide away magnificently through the deep blue and gradually see him grow smaller and smaller as he nears the horizon. Finally where the sea and the sky meet, he slips silently from sight, and someone near me says " There he is gone"! Gone where? Gone from sight that is all. he is still as large in mast and in hull and sail, still just as able to bear his load. And we can be sure that, just as we say, " there, he is gone!: another says, There, he comes. Life is eternal and love is immortal: and death is only a horizon, and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight. Trey will remain in my heart forever.

What a beautiful celebration of Treys' life. I wish I could find some words that would take away the pain and suffering that you Terry, Cliff, Marybeth and Colton are going through. Terry, I learned so much from you while Andrew was in Brandon Academy. I always hear your words "you have to choose your battles", especally when Andrew went through the crazy hair style days. TREY WAS A KIND AND GENTAL SOUL. I'VE KNOWN HIM FOR MANY YEARS FROM HIM HANGING OUT AT THE GURDA'S HOUSE. TREY JUST RECENTLY HELPED MY SON THROUGH A DIFFICULT TIME IN HIS LIFE. HE WAS THERE BY HIS SIDE NIGHT AND DAY. HE SAT DOWN WITH ME ON MY PORCH JUST RECENTLY AND TALKED ALL AFTERNOON. HE ALWAYS ASKED HOW WAS YOUR DAY NINA? I WOULD TELL HIM IT WAS GOOD AND YOURS? HE WAS ALWAYS DOING GOOD ALSO. HE WAS ALWAYS READY TO HELP THOSE IN NEED. MY DAD WAS MOVING A STOVE INTO HIS HOUSE AND TREY ASKED IF HE COULD HELP. DAD SAID SURE. TREY SAID TELL ME WHAT TO DO, I'M NOT SURE ABOUT WHAT TO DO, BUT I'LL TRY MY BEST. HE WAS A DOWN TO EARTH YOUNG MAN. NO MATTER IF YOU WERE RICH OR POOR, HE TREATED YOU THE SAME. I NEVER MET HIS PARENTS BUT THEY RAISED A GENTAL & KIND YOUNG MAN THAT TOUCHED EVERYONE HE CAME IN CONTACT WITH. MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO THE FAMILY.
