Victoria SCOLARO Obituary

SCOLARO, Victoria Dei Tos, died at home after a terminal illness Tuesday, January 10, 2012. She was 93. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Victoria was born on December 30, 1918. Her parents were Rosina and Giovanni Dei Tos, who immigrated to the United States via Ellis Island from Sicily and North Italy in the late nineteenth century. Victoria was a graduate of Hillsborough High School and worked at Sears for 40 years until her retirement several decades ago. She was a very unique, forthright, hard-working, and humorous woman. Her husband, Johnnie, of almost 60 years, died in June of 2000. Victoria is survived by her son, John, and his wife, Anna; her grand-children, John Scolaro and Elizabeth Robinson and their spouses, Adina and Steve; her great-grand-children, Corey and Dana Robinson, Rosina Scolaro, and Victoria Jolly; her step-granddaughter and her husband, Joanna Leslie and Aaron Arnold, and their daughter, Adrianna; her step-grandson and his wife, Jon Leslie and Danett, and by many close friends and members of her family. A memorial service in honor of her unique life will be held at 2 p.m. at Gonzalez Funeral Home Saturday, January 14, at 7209 N. Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LifePath Hospice.

JD and family,
Heaven has gained another Angel. I always admired Vi, I was always proud to know she was my cousin.
Sleep well and tell Mama and Dad hello for me.

Victoria Scolaro was a wonderful lady. We remember her authenic Italian food which she prepared at our motel near the beach. Her cooking made us forget that it was raining at the beach.
Her visits to Tennessee brought excitement. We never had to wonder what her opinion was on any topic because she was straight forward. We liked that about her. She always knew how to make JD listen. He lost all the arguments with her. We will miss her.
