Viola Maestre Obituary

Viola L. (Olm) Maestre, 98, of Newington, died Thursday (February 27, 2003). She was the beloved wife of the late Cipriano "Chip" Maestre. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was a Newington resident for over 60 years. She retired from G. Fox & Co., Hartford, after 30 years of employment. Viola was an active member of the Church of Christ, Congregational, Newington, and a member of the Newington Senior Center. She is survived by her cousins, Dorothy Franks in Florida and Martha Fritts in Colorado, and a nephew Louis Torregroso in California. She also leaves her friends of many years, Sylvia and Edward Pignone of Wethersfield, and their family. She was predeceased by her brothers Henry and Milford Olm, and a sister Anna Reed. We would like to thank the health care staff at Hartford Hospital, Bliss 8, Maple View Manor, Amy Swank of VNA of Greater Hartford, and Nellie, Viola's caregiver, for their professional care and kindness given to this special lady. Her funeral service will be held Monday, at 11 a.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth C. Brookes officiating. Interment will be in Center Cemetery, Newington. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday from 10-11 a.m. at Newington Memorial. Memorial donations may be made to the Church of Christ, Congregational, 1075 Main St., Newington, CT 06111.
