Virginia HITCHCOCK Obituary

HITCHCOCK, Virginia

89, of Oscoda MI and Safety Harbor FL, died July 14, 2015 in Lansing MI of emphysema. Born Dec. 27, 1925 in Dearborn MI to Anna (Sberneciu) and Arsene Ghetia, she was the WWII bride of Maurice E. Hitchcock, married Dec. 10, 1942 in Lakewood NY. She was a devoted mother of three and excellent cook; a Ford Motor Company retiree and later married Norbert E. Nowicki, Nov. 8, 1988, in Safety Harbor, FL. Her greatest love was her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands; two brothers, Emil and David Ghetia; two sisters, Silvia Taylor and Anne Yaeger; her son, Maurice E. Hitchcock Jr. and daughter, Gail MacGregor Sheridan. She is survived by sister, Victoria (Andrew) Hild, Dearborn MI; daughter, Leslie (Thomas) Friedrich, Holt MI; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many dear friends and many beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation Oct. 3, at 10 am, Our Savior Lutheran Church, 7910 East St. Joe Highway, Lansing, MI 48917; Victory Service at 11 am with burial in Spring Lake Cemetery, Spring Lake, MI later in the afternoon, Pastor Bill Wangelin officiating. Donations may be made in her memory to Smile Train International or Our Savior Lutheran Contemporary Music Ministry. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.
