Walter Burek Obituary

BUREK, Walter Joseph, 85, of Spring Hill, Fla., loving husband of Florence Rose for 66 years, died under hospice care September 2, 2007. He was born in Carnegie, Pa. He was preceded in death by his mother, Caroline; father, Michael; brother, John; and sister Ann. Walter was a veteran of World War II, having served in England and Wales with the U.S. Army Quarter-masters Corps. Until his retirement, he was employed by the county of Allegheny in Pennsylvania. He loved gardening at his home in Spring Hill, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, to whom he was devoted. Walter is survived by his wife, Florence; his sister, Mary; his daughter, Barbara Ann; sons, Walter Jr., Jerome and Patrick; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Friends will be received 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at Turner Funeral Homes, Spring Hill. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church, in Spring Hill. Interment with military honors will take place at Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contibutions be made to the Hernando-Pasco Hospice, 1114 Chatman Blvd., Brooksville, FL 34601
