William Olmsted Obituary

Olmsted, William Lucious III

63, of St. Petersburg, FL passed away peacefully, on August 13, 2025.

Bill was born in Summit, NJ on November 22, 1961, and moved to St. Petersburg in 1970. He graduated from St. Petersburg High, earned his certification in diesel mechanics, and an associate's degree in electronics.

Growing up Bill was a good son and a most excellent older brother. He loved Tampa Bay where he swam, explored, fished, and sailed competitively. He was always up for adventure, while keeping his younger brothers safe.

He was a gifted mechanic and accumulated an astounding library of knowledge on the topic. He loved attending motorsport races. As kids we could hear the hydro's racing over on Lake Maggiore and he would lead us there on our bicycles to watch. He was a regular patron at Sunshine Speedway, The Gator Nationals, and Daytona.

In his professional life, Bill was a highly dedicated and valued employe at Miami Freight, Cummins, Tampa Brass, and Jabil Circuits.

After a serious setback in 1999, Bill resided with his parents where he received endless love and care. This new chapter for him was challenging but no less sweet than his previous years. He was happy and fulfilled with love and laughter. His daily walks with Dad made him a star of the neighborhood where our neighbors would take the time to greet them as they ambled by.

Bill lived his final years at Aventura At The Bay where his sweetness and gentle nature earned him the love of the staff and his caregivers.

Bill has been outstanding his entire life.

He is survived by mother, Elizabeth; brothers, Ted and Rob.
