William PEACOCK Obituary
PEACOCK, William Fredrick 78, passed away on March 28 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN from complications of a fall. Fred enjoyed a colorful and enjoyable life. He was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1944 while his father was stationed there during his miliary service. Fred lived his early years in Summerville and LaFayette, Georgia. He graduated from LaFayette High School in 1963, then attended and graduated from Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA. He earned a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Chemical Corps. While serving in South Korea, he was promoted to Captain and became a Company Commander on the DMZ. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Fred held major leadership positions at Six Flags Over Georgia in Atlanta, Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida and SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida. He greatly enjoyed his 30 plus years career in the Theme Park Industry and his world-wide travels. He was an active member of the Methodist Church in Tampa and Orlando, joining the Baptist Church when he retired and moving back to his hometown of LaFayette, Ga. Fred was a Rotarian in Tampa and Orlando and a member of the Lions Club while in LaFayette. A natural born leader, Fred was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing baseball. He was proceeded in death by his father, Clayton W. Peacock Jr.; his mother, Gladys Aldred Peacock; and his older brother, Clayton W. Peacock, III. He is survived by his brother, James "Jim" Peacock and wife Bonnie of Norris, TN, and numerous nieces and nephews. Celebration of life services will be held at the First Baptist Church Chapel in LaFayette, GA on Thursday, April 27. Receiving of Friends will begin at 1 pm with a Celebration of Life at 2 pm. A second Celebration of Life will be held at Busch Gardens in Tampa, FL on April 19 at 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the LaFayette High School Athletics Department, c/o the Bank of LaFayette, P.O. Box 1149, LaFayette, GA 30728. On the check "For" line, please put "Golf Program in memory of Fred Peacock". Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home of LaFayette is in charge of arrangements.
