Joe Manhart Obituary

Joe Patrick "Pat" Manhart

Was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. His family migrated to Tulsa, Oklahoma when he was quite young. He grew up there with his parents Arthur and Eva and his brother Tom. He grew to have a deep connection to his extended family and the civic and arts community in Tulsa. He graduated from University of Tulsa with a degree in botany and would go on to earn his masters in landscape architecture and city planning from Harvard. He returned to Tulsa to start his own business in landscape design. He married his life partner, Mary Harley Jenks and raised three girls, Keiki, Kristin and Hilary. Pat and Harley retired to Taos, NM in 1991 where he designed and built his dream home. Here he continued to be engaged in his love of architectural and garden design and to participate in the arts community. He and Harley enjoyed the opportunity to travel in their retirement and visited France, Italy, Morocco and Turkey. Pat was known for his engaging personality and a deep interest in the lives of those he met. He used his life-long passion for food and cooking to indulge his friends and family. He is remembered with love and humor for his ability to run into someone he knew wherever he was in the world. Pat passed away at home in Taos "of having lived" at the grand age of almost 93. 04/17/1931- 04/03/2024 No service or memorial. The family of Joe Patrick (Pat) Manhart has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos. 866-657-4019 www.devargastaos.com
