Daniel Shannon Obituary

Daniel P. Shannon, 26, passed away unexpectedly at his home Thursday October 6th, 2016. Born in Stoughton, MA, Daniel was raised in Brockton, MA attended Saint Josephs School in Holbrook, MA and eventually moved to Taunton, MA with his family, where he graduated from Taunton High School in 2008. He was a former altar server of eight years with Saint Josephs Church in Holbrook, MA, where he also actively participated in sports within the community, including many travel teams for all sports, favoring baseball the most. Daniel, Danny, like his brother, Brian, put everything he had into every baseball game, pitching no-hitters and stealing bases like no other. He put in great effort both on and off the field, and was never afraid to lend a helping hand to anyone interested in learning the sport. He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed all New England sports and loved watching them with his friends and family. Danny was extremely funny, quick-witted, always willing to help anyone in need, and always cracking a smile or a quick joke to make someone smile on his or her worst days. Danny also worked vigorously with his father, Paul, for many years in the construction field where he crafted his knowledge and his experience and went on to work at Wheaton College. Danny also had a love for the family dog, Maiko, who he would take for walks and run around the yard with on a daily basis. He also actively participated in the American Cancer Societys Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk yearly in memory of his late Aunt Marnie. He is survived by his father, Paul D. Shannon, of Quincy, his mother, Christine M. Shannon (Kiddy), of Stoughton, (late) brother, Brian R. Shannon, sister, Casey N. Shannon, and family dog, Maiko, all residing in Taunton. He is the grandson of (late) Richard and (late) Susan Shannon, of Quincy, and (late) Christine Kiddy, of Stoughton. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. His funeral will be held at Saint Josephs Church, 153 South Franklin Street, Holbrook, MA on Friday, October 14th at 12 p.m. (NOTICE TIME CHANGE). Burial to follow at the Pine Hill Cemetery, 815 Willard Street, Quincy, MA. Calling Hours will be held at Kanes Funeral Home, 605 Washington Street, South Easton, MA on Thursday October 13th from 4-8 p.m.

Dear Chris, Paul and Casey
I am so sorry for the sadness that has fallen on your family again. Danny was one of the kindest, most caring, respectful boys at St Joe's. I'll always remember how he waited outside the classroom for Lori-Ann, when a teacher wanted to speak to her alone; he was very protective of his friends.
Please know that you are in my prayers and even though we haven't been in touch for a long time, you are thought of as good friends.
Love you all
Deb

Chris, Paul & Casey,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. Danny was a great kid to have as a neighbor. He was always there if I needed help.I will always remember the lively conversations when he'd come with his friends and ask me to order pizza for them. He always made me laugh. Rest in peace Danny.

Mr. and Mrs. Shannon I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Danny. I'll never forget the times we shared on the basketball court at St.Joes or through the years we went to school together. Danny was a great kid who always loved to laugh and clown around. He could always put a smile on anyone's face. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and the rest of your family. My family sends their condolences as well. Rest in peace Danny. I'll never forget the times we had coming up through middle school and junior high being part of the same crew of kids always playing football during recess or playing baseball together in little league. You loved playing ball bro. Keep an eye over all of us. See you on the other side.

Goodbye old friend we had some fun as young market basket buddies but went separate ways. You had a good heart and had been a good worker for most of the time I knew you. Very few people could match my witts and you where one of them. Fly high old friend and remember you will never be forgotten. Gone to soon.
