James Stringer Obituary

James Thomas Stringer, 69, passed away on December 16, 2017 at Brigham and Womens Hospital after a 10-year battle with various health issues including organ transplants, pneumonia, and cancer. Jim was born and raised in New Bedford, MA, son of the late Thomas H. and Catherine A. (Veary) Stringer and husband of 41 years to Marie E. (Blanchard) Stringer. James served in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era where he was stationed in Puerto Rico. He had his Masters Degree in business from Southeastern Mass University and worked as a Vice President of Finance for Ayer Sales in Woburn. He was an avid Boston Celtics fan and lover of all sports including football, baseball, and soccer and played and coached with various teams over the years. He enjoyed golf, bowling in an area bowling league, the beach, traveling with his wife Marie, and was a lover of music and dance. Family was important to him and he would do anything to spend time with his children and grandchildren. James had a strong faith in God, and it was his faith that carried him through his illness, Jim turned everything over to God through prayer. As a part of his faith, Jim was highly involved with his church, St. Anns in Raynham, he was a Lecter, eucharistic minister, and taught CCD classes there. Besides his wife Marie, Jim is survived by a daughter, Jessica Phaneuf and her husband Adam of Southborough, MA; two sons, Jonathan Stringer and his wife Sheridan of Swansea, and Michael Stringer and his wife Katie of Collegeville, PA; four grandchildren, AJ, Connor, and Reagan Phaneuf and Cameron Stringer; three sisters, Janice Kirby of Rochester, Kathy Brady of Auburn, and Cheryl Stringer of Taunton; and a brother, Daniel Stringer of Taunton. He was also grandfather of the late Amanda Phaneuf. Funeral Services will be held Thursday December 21 at 9am in the Crapo Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave, Taunton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anns Church Raynham.
