Jose Pinheiro Sr.

Jose Pinheiro, Sr. husband of the late Maria T. (Moitoso) Pinheiro, died unexpectedly at his Taunton home on Jan. 7, 2016. He was 82. Born in Faial, Azores, Jose was the son of the late Jose and Maria Constance Pinheiro. Educated in the Azores, he served in the Portuguese Army before moving to this area many years ago. A retired maintenance mechanic, he was employed by Royce Aluminum for over 23 years until 1991. Jose was a communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, lobstering and quahogging. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Antonio Pinheiro and his wife Grace of Taunton, and Angelo Pinheiro and his wife Betsy of East Taunton; a brother, Antonio Pinheiro of Faial; a sister, Caroline Escobar of CA; 7 grandchildren, Lisa Arpin, and Nicholas, Mandy, Daniel, Adam, Vanessa, and Hannah Pinheiro; 2 great grandchildren, Kailyn and Dillon Arpin; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Jose Pinheiro, Jr. and Manuel Pinheiro, and the brother of the late Angelo and Emilia Pinheiro, and Maria Constance Escobar. His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, Jan. 13th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
