Allen McCain Obituary

ALLEN WHARTON MCCAIN Allen Wharton McCain, 77, died on April 25, 2009 at his home in Stuart, Florida after a long illness. He was born in Cincinnati,Ohio and was reared in Louisville, Kentucky. He graduated from Male High School in Louisville in 1950 and attended the University of Kentucky where he was an active member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He was a successful businessman who developed various business ventures in Kentucky, North Carolina, and Florida. Most notably, during the 1990's he and his wife owned and renovated the Historic Green Park Inn in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. In 1994 he was appointed by the Govenor of North Carolina to the Board of Hotels of International Tourism, served on the board of Southern Innkeepers, and a Board member of the North Carolina Govenor's Western Residence Association Board of Directors. He was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, in Stuart and was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Pat Morris McCain of Stuart, son, Kirk Wharton McCain of Tampa (Nancy); daughter, Barbara (Dale) McCain Boyd, of Atlanta; son, Carter Braxton McCain of Tampa; son, Theodore Allen McCain of Atlanta, along with ten grandchildren (Madison, Holly, Kyndall, Chandler, Skylar,Austin, Bryce, Trenton, Karli and Cara) He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale McCain and Eleanor Wharton, and older brother Theodore "Ted" McCain. Memorial Contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice 1201 SE Indian Street Stuart, FL. 34997 or The Memorial Chapel of Mariner Sands 6500 SE Congressional Way Stuart,FL. 34997 in his memory. SERVICES: A Celebration of life will be conducted at Mariner Sands Chapel on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 2:30 PM with Dr. Bill Weimer, officiating followed by a reception at Mariner Sands Country Club. Inurnment will be in Mariner Sands Gardens. Online guest book may be signed at www.heavencalled.com Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Martin Funeral Home & Crematory, Stuart.
