Angelo Coronato Obituary

Angelo "Bill" A. Coronato, 90, died Jan. 2, 2011, at his home. He was born on Long Island, N.Y., and lived in Port St. Lucie for seven years, coming from Trumbull, Conn. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Before retirement, he was a chief design engineer for Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, Conn., for 35 years and president and CEO of RCM Technology. He was one of the founders of American Helicopter Society and was commander of Housatonic River Sail and Power Squadron. He graduated from Styvesand High School in the Bronx, N.Y., Cornell University, the U.S. Naval College at Cornell, the University of Bridgeport, where he earned his mechanical engineering degree, and Yale University, where he earned his master's degree in engineering in 1957. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mary Helen Coronato of Port St. Lucie; daughters, Charlene Coronato and Dianne Franklin, both of Fort Lauderdale; son, Laurence Coronato of Fort Lauderdale; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 5000 Dunn Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34981; tchospice.org. Services: Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Jan. 7 at Aycock Funeral Home in Port St. Lucie. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon Jan. 7 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie. Burial will follow at Rolling Oaks Cemetery in Port St. Lucie.
