Blanche Evans Obituary


BLANCHE WALLACE EVANS Blanche Wallace Evans died peacefully at Indian River Medical Center on the 5th of September, 2011. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, 17th July 1924, the daughter of William Milner Wallace and Carlene Ambrose Wallace. Blanche was baptized and confirmed at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Decatur, Georgia. She graduated Decatur Girls' High and attended the University of Georgia, Athens where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and Alpha Lambda Delta Honorary Fraternity. Blanche met her husband, Charles Clement Evans, at the University. They were married on 27th December 1944, and resided in Atlanta until they moved to Indian River Shores, Florida, in 1972. She was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where she served in various ministries including the Altar Guild, the Daughters of the King, and the Episcopal Church Women before transferring to St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church. Blanche was a member of the Scottish Society of the Treasure Coast. Blanche is survived by her beloved husband of over 66 years, one son, Charles Fries Evans of Greenville, South Carolina; two daughters: Dr. Blanche W. Evans of Vero Beach and Carlene Evans Holden and her husband, Gregory Lewis Holden of Supply, North Carolina. Her devoted sisters, Mary Carlene Willis and Alice Lee Wallace. She was predeceased by her sister, Joella McDowell and brother, William Milner Wallace. Graveside service will be held on September 9, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Crestlawn Cemetery with Father Michael Goldberg officiating. Memorial donations may be made to St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 475 43rd Avenue, Vero Beach, Florida 32960. Paid Obituary
