Burnett Johnston Obituary

Burnett "Buzz" Nelson Johnston, 71, died Dec. 10, 2009, in Brockville General Hospital, Brockville, Ontario. He was born in Brockville and lived in Vero Beach. He graduated from Michigan State University, getting a bachelor of arts in hotel and club management. He was the general manager at the Plum Hollow Golf Club in Southfield, Mich., Orchard Lake Country Club in Orchard Lake, Mich., and the Chevy Chase Club in Chevy Chase, Md. He was a charter member of the Brockville Yacht Club and Brockville and Detroit curling clubs. He served on the board of directors and was a president of the Detroit Club Managers Association and was a director on the Board of Club Managers Association of America. Survivors include his wife, Heather; son, Stephen Johnston of Germany; daughters, Roxy Briggs of Delaware and Stacey Johnston of Maryland; sister, Trudy Kelly of Prescott; and brother, Richard Johnston of Quebec. Memorial contributions may be made to the Huntington Society of Canada, 151 Frederick St., Suite 400, Kitchener, ON N2H 2M2; (800) 998-7398. Services: He was cremated. A memorial service will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Barclay Funeral Home, Ontario. A guest book may be signed at barclayfuneralhome.com.
