Charlie Battles Obituary

Charlie Battles, Jr., 68, died July 19, 2007, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach. Born in Wabasso, he was a resident of Vero Beach. He received his basic education in the public schools of Indian River County. He was a mem ber of New Beginnings World on Fire Church in Vero Beach. Before retirement, he was employed with the City of Vero Beach in Parks and Recreation. Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Battles Patwary of Wabasso; stepsons, Allen Stewart of Corona, N.Y. and Dwayne Battles of New York; his mother, Dessie Calloway Flowers of Vero Beach; sisters, Pearlie Mae Anderson of Wabasso and Karen Rivers of Vero Beach; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife, Bernice Battles; and father, Charlie Battles Sr. SERVICES: Visitation is July 27 from 4 to 6 p.m. at New Beginnings World on Fire Church, Vero Beach. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. July 28 at the church. Burial will follow at Wabasso Cemetery. Arrangements are by Thorne's Mortuary, Inc. of Stuart.
