Cookie Miick Obituary

COOKIE MIICK It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Cookie Miick of Hobe Sound Fl, formerly from Bricktown, and Union City. She will be missed by the many friends that she has made throughout her life from all parts of the country and dearly missed by her family. Cookie is predeceased by her father Thomas Richmond, mother Lillian Richmond, brother Jack, sisters Babe, Lillian, Joan, and (little sister/best friend) Barbara. She leaves behind her brothers Charlie and Thomas, and sisters Jean, Jesse, and Doris. She also leaves behind the love of her life and loving husband of 43 years Bill Miick. One loving daughter Darcy Miick-Primak and her husband Thomas. One loving son, Sean Miick and his wife Christy. Cookie also had 4 grandchildren, Justine, Juliette, Nico, and Tanner who will forever have a lasting memory of the kindness and love that she shared with them. Also surviving are her in laws Joe and Rose Miick, Greg and Chris Miick, Michael Miick, George and Marie Miick, Rich and Kate Miick, Bob and Sissy, Ed and Barbara, Mary Jane, Margie, Robert Miick, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Cookie grew up in the projects of downtown Union City, NJ with her 10 brothers and sisters. What she and her family lacked in money was overshadowed by the enjoyment they had by appreciating the small things in life that are taken for granted by some, such as sharing laughter with those you love and the enjoyment of togetherness. These traits remained with her throughout the years as she shared the fruits that God had blessed upon her with her friends and family. At the age 15 she met her true love Bill who would be with her for the remainder of her life. Bill and Cookie lived life every day as a modern day Romeo and Juliet minus the tragic ending. At the age 17 they married and not long after had 2 children, Darcy and Sean. With great determination, hard work, and sacrifice, Bill and Cookie were able to move from the projects of Union City into their dream home in Brick. What may have been a small one- bathroom bungalow to some was a castle to Bill and Cookie, a place to raise a family and call home. This home was shared by many. At times it was used as a vacation house "down the shore" for her siblings who might not have had enough money to rent a place of their own. Other times it was a temporary home to help family members get back on their feet, but most of all it was a place where family and friends could get together and enjoy each others company. Over the years, with good fortune and hard work, Bill and Cookie were able to retire young and buy a home in Hobe Sound FL, were they went to live their remaining years together. It is there were they would share their love of golf and be able to travel and experience the freedom of youth that evaded them for so many years. Once again Cookie opened the doors to her house so it could be enjoyed with friends and family, and she delighted many with her hospitality. Cookie's Love for golf flourished over the years and she became an exceptional golfer. She won the Ladies Club Championship at Heritage Ridge Country Club and occasionally beat the guys (especially her brothers and brothers in law). She never had an unpleasant day playing golf and would go out her way to make sure that those she golfed with had an enjoyable time no matter what the scores were. If you were playing your worst round of golf you would not realize it if Cookie was in your foursome, because she would somehow make you smile and have fun. Unfortunately Cookie and her little sister were diagnosed with cancer last year and after courageous and long fought battles, their time on this earth has ended. They will again share their late night coffees and wait patiently for the remainder of their loved ones to join them. Until then, the world will be a little less delightful, the sun will shine a little less bright and the fairways will be a little less green. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at 9-9:30 AM at "The Family Owned" Carmona-Bolen Home For Funerals, 66 Lacey Rd., Whiting, NJ. Followed by a Mass at 10AM at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church in Whiting. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lakewood.

Dear Aunt Cookie,

Words cannot explain how I felt upon hearing of your passing.

Your husband, Uncle Billy, and children Darcy, Sean and their families arranged a magnificent funeral for you. Beautiful flowers were everywhere. The tremendous amount of people who came to show love and support was beyond anything I have ever seen. However, I did not expect anything less. You were loved by many and will be missed.

You will always be in my heart and prayers.

Dear Uncle Bill, Darcy and Sean,
I was wondering what one could say to express what Aunt Cookie meant to not only you all but everyone who knew her. I don't think those words have been invented yet. I have always thought of her as my guardian angel in life and that will not stop now. She has given to me, as I am sure to so many others, so many gifts of her love and so many memories...each one more precious than the other. Sitting here, I realized that I had to put my thoughts together somehow and I wrote this over a week ago. I will call it 'Memories'.

Memories are snapshots
we take with our hearts, developed by our souls, where they forever become a part...a part of our lives from current and past
they are things we have seen as we each walk our paths and things that we've been through both the good and the bad.
Many things form a memory we store safely in our hearts...good family, and good friends is how a circle starts.
Sharing the good and sharing the bad, it helps us embrace love, joy and yes, pain.
Good memories hold us up when the bad ones get us down and in that pain we must remember her love continues to go around.
So she will always be my circle, no beginning and no end, I am blessed to have her as an aunt and honored to call her my friend.

I miss her very much!!!I want to thank her for just being here and for giving me 45 years of joy. My love, thoughts and prayers are with you all always. I know she is resting in peace and is not suffering. By talking to her and keeping the family memories over the years, I know she will live forever in our hearts. God Bless you all.
Your niece, Tammi
