CYNTHIA CHESSER Obituary

CYNTHIA TURLINGTON CHESSER Cynthia Turlington Chesser of Vero Beach, Florida went home to her Lord and Savior on December 28, 2014. She was born June 9, 1927 in Vero Beach, a daughter to the late Robert Edwin Turlington and Annie Townsend Turlington. In 1990, Cindy was predeceased by her husband, Robert Hardee Chesser and in 2013 her amazing granddaughter Christi Platt Engels. She also had four sisters and four brothers. She is survived by daughters, Meta Keen (Jerry) of Vero Beach, Sybil Yellen (Larry) of Duluth, Georgia, Sandra Platt (Roy) of Fellsmere, and sons Lem Chesser of Sarasota, Robert Chesser, III (Regina) of Fellsmere and Thomas Chesser (Tanya) of Vero Beach. Cindy is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Cynthia Keen Simmons of Hoover, AL, Jason Keen of Vero Beach, Judson Keen of McEwen, TN, Geoffrey Ezell of Atlanta, GA, Ben Ezell of Atlanta, GA, Rebecca Ezell Flowers of Lawrenceville, GA, Rep Platt of Fellsmere, Veronica Chesser Quincy of Celebration, Jennifer Chesser Hemmerle of Celebration, Lem Chesser, Jr. of Haines City, Scarlett Chesser of Fellsmere and Tammy Chesser Thompson of Babson Park. Cindy was known as Mom-C by her family and is also survived by 32 great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. Cindy often shared her stories of the early years living on the Treasure Coast and finding her true love in Sebastian. Cindy and her husband, Robert Chesser, owned a ranch in Sebastian, where they raised their six children. The ranch was then known as "Chesser Gap." They sold the ranch in Sebastian in 1985 and bought a 1,200 acre ranch in Kennansville, FL, where they built a home and she stayed until after the death of her husband. In 1993, she moved to Vero Beach where she purchased her home so she could be closer to her family. She continued to live there until her death. Recently, Cindy attended the Old Timers Day in Sebastian and enjoyed visiting and reminiscing with old friends and family. Keeping the early memories in Sebastian was very important to her. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project as it was Cindy's desire to reach out to the veterans that have served this country. Visit woundedwarriorproject.org for information on making her dream continue to live on. Visitation will be held 1-2 PM, Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the Strunk Funeral Home in Sebastian. A Celebration of Cindy's Life will immediately follow beginning at 2 PM. Interment will be at Sebastian Cemetery in Sebastian. A guest book is available at www.strunkfuneralhome.com

I was blessed to know, love, and be loved by this special lady. She was always welcoming to me and my family when I was growing up and was able to spend a lot of time at Chesser's Gap. What a special place full of special memories. I always love receiving her Christmas cards and was able to visit with her a few summers ago. Thank you Mrs. Cindy for always being like a grandmother to me!! You will be missed and I will cherish my memories of you forever. Tell Mr. Bobby hello for me.... I know he was waiting for you with open arms. Love and prayers to the family!!

Wanted to add my 2 cents to what Ed said. I'll miss Cindy very much. Will miss hearing her: "Hi, Judy," on the other end of the phone when I pick it up. We kept in touch often and enjoyed catching up, periodically. During the 12 years we lived in Melbourne, she and her family treated us like family and included us in every family event that took place. And we enjoyed the more intimate lunches and dinner dates we shared, too. I adopted her as my aunt since I had none living, and she treated me like she would a niece. There will be a big void in our lives now that no one else can replace.
We loved her and know she loved us back. We're very thankful that we had the privilege of being an important part of her life and, she, in ours.
Hard to say good-bye, but realize that her health had declined to the point that she could no longer be her true self. God bless her and all her beloved family.

With Love to All,
Judy Waters

Aunt Mike, you are so fondly remembered by my dad, James Turlington. He will miss you and the calls on Sundays talking about football. You were his favorite aunt. I also have fond memories of visiting you and uncle Bobby at your ranch and all the cookouts with the whole family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family today as they all say good by to you.

Love and blessings,
