Daniel McCarty Obituary

Daniel Thomas McCarty III, 66, died March 1, 2008, at his residence. He was a Fort Pierce native and member of a St. Lucie County pioneer family. He was a rancher, citrus grower and president of Rainbow Groves. He was a graduate of Dan McCarty High School, class of 1959, and attended the University of Florida. He was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church of Fort Pierce. Survivors include his son, Daniel Thomas McCarty IV of Fort Pierce; daughter, Melanie McCarty Francisco of Fort Pierce; sister, Lela McCarty Mitchell of Thomasville, Ga.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, former Florida Governor Dan McCarty and Olie Brown McCarty; and brother, Michael Samuel McCarty. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 210 S. Indian River Drive, Fort Pierce, FL 34950. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. March 4 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. A Eucharist funeral service will be at 11 a.m. March 4 in the church sanctuary. Burial will be in Palms Memorial Cemetery, Ankona. Arrangements are by Yates Funeral Home, Fort Pierce.
