Gino DeGrandis Obituary

Gino DeGrandis

Vero beach, fl

1939-2016

Gino DeGrandis, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away on April 26th, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born May 25, 1939 to Gene & Raffaella DeGrandis, and raised in Philadelphia, Gino left home to proudly serve in the US Marine Corp. After his service he married the love of his life, Rita Manns, and together they had five children. In the early 80's they settled in York, Pa., and it was here where his love of family and hot rods came together, building and racing cars with his sons.

Gino settled in Vero Beach, Florida after retiring from his life long career as a successful turnaround manager in the turbine motor industry. In retirement, he continued to offer his strong leadership skills and worked as a security team captain for an exclusive gated community.

He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, a son, a brother, a friend, and a mentor, possessing the highest level of integrity.

Gino, the Patriarch of our family, is preceded in death by his wife, Rita (Manns) DeGrandis, and his son, Jonathan Paul DeGrandis. He leaves behind his partner and friend, Susan Gross, his four children, Rita Keim Wynegar (Michael), Gina Lynn, Gino DeGrandis (Jacqueline), Lisa DeGrandis, sister Rita Chieffo, brother Anthony Rossi, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 2nd, 2016 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm, and Tuesday, May 3rd from 8:00am to 9:15am at John F Fluehr & Sons, Inc. Funeral Home, 3301 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia, 19149, followed by 10:00am Mass at Church of the Resurrection of our Lord, 2000 Shelmire Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19152. Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 4th at 9:00am at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery and Garden Mausoleum, Cheltenham Avenue and Easton Road, Philadelphia, PA, 19150.

Many memories of a car full of kids pulling up with Rita and Gino visiting us in Haddonfield. We all knew we would immediately be "lacing" up our sneakers and he would choose up the "sides" for our football games. If we caught the ball or if we didn't catch the ball he taught us life lessons. Share your energy with others, love yourself and most importantly live in the moment with "Family". xox and Rest in Eternal Peace. Kathy #2 of 8

The best cousin ever! And the best Godfather! I will always cherish how he made me feel special! A memory that I will never forget is at my sister's wedding...when I was like 10 and I reminded him that he and Rita were my Godparents (haha) and they whisked me up in their arms and danced together with me in the middle..it was just like yesterday. I love you Gino. Rest in Peace.
