Grover Erb Obituary

GROVER RAE ERB Grover Rae Erb, 82, died September 29, 2006 due to complications of Alzheimers disease. He was born in Queens, NY, the eldest son of Grover Cleveland and Martha (Rae) Erb. He attended John Adams High School and New York University School of Business. He was of the Catholic faith. He was a Knight of Columbus, Coral Springs Council #8838, and a fourth degree Knight of the Edward A. O'Neil Assembly. He was president of the Pop Warner Football League in Long Island, New York. He was an avid tennis player and golfer. He served in the Air Force during World War II, as a Staff Sargeant, 76th Trooper Carrier Squadron, in the European Theater Operation. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and a Presidential Unit Citation. Before retirement in 1989, he was Senior Vice President of The Williams & Wells Co. of New York City. Upon retirement he relocated to Florida, and has resided in Port St. Lucie since 2003. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth (Bette) Erb, daughters Betteanne (Thomas) Comerford of Edmond, Oklahoma, Nancy Rae Erb of Levittown, New York and Amy Jo (Thomas) Dunstan of New Canaan, Connecticut; grandchildren: Kara Ann (Shaun) Jex of Coppell, Texas, Katie Marie Comerford of Austin, Texas, Aimee Lynn Comerford of Edmond, Oklahoma, Kieran Thomas Dunstan, Taylor Elizabeth Dunstan, Erin Riley Dunstan, and Thomas Stephen Dunstan all of new Canaan, Connecticut, a brother, Wilbur (Maureen) Erb of Seaford, New York, and many loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospices, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, Florida 34997. A Mass in celebration of life will be held at 10 AM on October 6, 2006 at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Port St. Lucie. Inurnment will be in the Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York at a later date. Aycock Funeral Home, Port St. Lucie, FL is in charge of arrangements.

I cherish the memories of myself and my Uncle Grover playing golf and tennis and our cocktails afterward talking and solving the problems of the world. RIP Uncle. You earned it.
