Hugh and I enjoyed many of our senior years together at Indian River Club, often on the golf course. What we also had in common but did not realize were military-connected honeymoons. In 1959 his and Francie's honeymoon included driving to his first Army duty station in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Four years earlier I had paved the way with my honeymoon drive from the church in Flint, Michigan to the Naval base in Coronado, California. I do wish we had known of our similar starts to the following wonderful years. It would have provided the material for some unique conversations.

I will always remember Hugh from my short tenure at IFF. He was a natural leader and a gentleman. I thank him for all he did for me.

While golfing and socializing with Hugh for many years, I realized how lucky I was to be counted among his friends. And I also knew that I was unlucky not to have known him for the first 60 years of our lives. Miss you, Hughie.
