Irving Doyle Obituary

Irving W. Doyle, 96, died March 21, 2008. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Florida in 1983, before moving to Louisville, Ky., in 2004. He was a retired engineer and had a distinguished career in aerospace and defense at Fairchild Camera and Instrument Corp., Syosset, N.Y, designing such things as aerial cameras and electrical gun sights, and holds several patents. He was a past Commander of Captree Power Squadron. He was a member of St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in Sebastian, Elks Lodge 2714, AARP, Smoothies, Barefoot Bay Shuffleboard and the Homeowners Association and Computer Club, both of Barefoot Bay. Survivors include his wife, Helen V. Doyle; daughters, Janet E. Doyle, Karen L. Floyd and Lorraine A. Luba; sister, Virginia E. Thomas; brother, Edwin F. Doyle; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church or Captree Power Squadron (for use in boating education), 24 Albert Road, Amity Harbor, N.Y. 11701-4014. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. March 24 at the Pearson-Ratterman Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Road, Louisville. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. March 25 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church 1206 Maple Lane, Anchorage, Ky. A visitation in New York will be from 9 to 11 a.m. March 29 at Powell Funeral Home in Amityville, N.Y., with a service to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Amityville Cemetery.
