Isabel Cahill Obituary
Vero Beach, FL
Isabel Schaefer Cahill, 93, of Vero Beach, FL and Martha's Vineyard, MA died peacefully at her home in Indian River Estates, Vero Beach on August 13. She was born on October 10th, 1922 in Boston, MA the only daughter of Mary and George J. Schaefer. Her two brothers George and Gerard predeceased her. She also lived in Cleveland Heights, OH, Loudonville, NY and New Canaan, CT.
She was a graduate of The Ursuline School, New Rochelle, NY and Manhattanville College, Purchase, NY.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, John J. Cahill was her high school sweetheart and the love of her life. She is survived by 5 children Susan Gebhardt of Seattle,WA, Geraldine Ordway (Christopher) of Houston, TX, Julia Cahill of New York, NY, John Cahill of Vineyard Haven, MA, and Elizabeth Cahill Ruksznis (David) of New Canaan, CT. Also surviving are 8 adoring grandchildren Ursula Gebhardt Mann, Leo Gebhardt, Christopher Ordway, Katharine Ordway Reishman, Stephen Ordway, John Ordway, Isabel Ruksznis, Grace Ruksznis and 10 great-grand children.
Known for her devotion to husband and family, she took a leadership role in her community, children's schools and sporting activities. She loved playing golf at Waccabuc Country Club, Waccabuc, NY, was a charter member of Farm Neck Golf Club, Martha's Vineyard and was an active member of Bent Pine Golf Club, Vero Beach, FL.
Memorial services were held on Thursday, August 18th at 11:00 AM at Indian River Estates in Vero Beach.
