JACK OPPASSER Obituary
JACK E. OPPASSER Jack E. Oppasser, 75, of Stuart, Florida passed away peacefully on April 30, 2015 at home. He was born in Freeport, NY and grew up in Crestwood, NY and was a long time resident of Malvern, PA before residing in Stuart, FL. He graduated from Dickinson College in 1962 where he met his wife, Judie - celebrating their 52nd year of marriage this year. He was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. He spent 33 years with Atlantic Richfield Company retiring as President of Arco Chemical Europe while living in England to run the European division. Jack's leadership led him to serve on the Board of Goodwill Industries, the Board of Paoli Memorial Hospital during the 1980's, and the Board of Arco Chemical 1991-1996. He was also a Trustee of European Chemical Association. Jack was a passionate golfer. He was a lifelong member of Whitford Country Club in Exton, PA where he twice hit a hole-in- one and served 2 terms as President. He was also a member of Mariner Sands Country Club in Stuart, Florida, where he was a two time Senior Club Champion and his third hole-in- one. He was also very proud to have played a round of golf with Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer. Jack spent summers in Stone Harbor, New Jersey. He loved to travel, enjoy fine wine and he appreciated a challenging game of gin rummy. Jack's twinkle in his eyes, generous spirit and determination live on in the legacy he has left with his wife Judie, daughters, Jill Oppasser (John Dowling), Joni Oppasser (Duane Davis), and Julann Oppasser-Donnelly (John Donnelly), sister Joan Bollman, brother-in-law Malcolm Northam, his 5 loving grandchildren Jenna Dowling, Jack Donnelly, Jared Donnelly, Jamie Donnelly, Reid Davis and many nieces and nephews. I remember Jill Oppasser (Jack`s daughter) from a bordering school in Norristown Pa. in 1988-89. Jill worked in the dorm. Jill must of got her sense of humor and determination from her father Jack. Remembering back Jill was very determined.

Wherever you are Jack, I will always keep my great memories from you and the best ever professional & personal period at ACC we shared together in the 90,s under your european and global leadership.

Jack was a dear friend during my teen years at Trout Lake in Diamond Point NY where I believe his folks owned a cabin. He drove a two door car with a small space behind the front seats. Jack, Diane Newell, Loan Lasch, and myself would get into that car and Jack would take us into the adirondacks etc. He also had a small but fast boat. I was lucky to find Jack only a few moths ago and touch base and share some photos. He was a happy young man...likeable fun and generous. He will be missed.

Remember when Jack and Jimmy Kilgore drove a golf cart into a pond at Miami Lakes and got on Wild World of sports.
Remember when Sorgenti keep Jack and me in a meeting in London and we missed the plane and Barbara and Judy had to return to the US on there own.
Lots of good ARCO memories. We had fun working together.
