James MacDonald Obituary

James Ronald MacDonald, 85, died June 20, 2007, in St. Lucie Medical Center in Port St. Lucie. He was born in Scotstown, Quebec, Canada, and moved Port St. Lucie from Stuart. Before retirement, he was a Conservative Baptist minister, serving churches in Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin and California. He also ministered to U.S. servicemen in Naples, Italy, from 1969-1977; Rimini, Italy, in 1986; and Tokyo in 1990. During retirement, he continued to work part time as director of church relations for Clearwater Christian College. He graduated from Wayne High School in Michigan in 1940 and Bob Jones College in 1944. He was ordained in 1944 at First Baptist Church in Wayne, Mich. In 1993, a doctor of divinity degree was conferred upon him by Clearwater Christian College, citing his 49 years of active ministry. Survivors include his wife, Mildred; sons, Dennis MacDonald of Claremont, Calif., and Peter MacDonald of Hamilton, N.Y.; daughters, Pam Friend of Westlake, Calif., and Robin Stuart of Mansfield, Texas; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Memorial contributions may be made to the Port St. Lucie Bible Church's Building Fund, 1120 S.W. Paar Drive, Port St. Lucie, FL 34953. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10 a.m. June 23 at Forest Hills Funeral Home in Palm City, with a service at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow immediately after in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
