James Murphy Obituary

JAMES K. "KENNY" MURPHY JR. James K. "Kenny" Murphy Jr., of Jensen Beach, died on July 29, 2007. Born in Attleboro, Mass., he was the son of the late James K. Murphy Sr. and Matilda V. (Kelliher) Murphy. Kenny attended the Attleboro school system and went on to Fryeburg Academy in Maine to complete his education. Kenny joined the Marines in Nov. of 1969. "Once a Marine always a Marine." Upon leaving the military in 1974, he worked for Krew Inc., a family owned business until 1978. He then worked in military manufacturing and as a sales representative in and around the Attleboro area. While living in Attleboro, Kenny was a member of the Highland Country Club. Golfing was a great passion of his. He was also very proud of his Irish heritage. He was also an active member of the Attleboro Elks Club. In 1992, Kenny headed to Florida, and there he stayed. He loved the sunshine and the warm weather, working as a mate aboard the Island Princess. In Florida, Kenny was an active member of the American Legion and the Jensen Beach Moose Lodge. Also affiliated with the Elks Clubs for 22 years. Survivors include a brother, David K. Murphy of Sandwich; a sister, Joan Mahoney of West Yarmouth; and nieces and nephews, BJ, Tom, Katie and Laura. Kenny also leaves behind a dear and faithful friend, Arlene of Florida. As a young man, Kenny spent a lot of time on Bass River, Cape Cod. Because of his love of Boats and the ocean, a cruise of Bass River and Scattering of his ashes at sea is planned for a future date. A memorial service will be held at the American Legion, Post 126, in Jensen Beach. August 16th at 10:00 AM. Arrangements entrusted to Aycock Funeral Home, Stuart.
