Jean Acres Obituary

JEAN MARGARET ACRES Jean Margaret Acres, 89, died of natural causes on Easter Sunday, March 28, 2008 at Treasure Coast Hospices in Stuart Florida. She was of the Methodist faith, attending church in Madrid, NY and Hobe Sound, FL. Born in Vernon, Ontario, Canada, she resided in Stuart since 1979, coming from Ticonderoga, NY. She was the daughter of Janet (Campbell) and Dan Porteous. She was a seamstress, gardener, and homemaker and retired from the family farm in Madrid, NY where she raised her three children. Survivors include her son, Gary Acres and partner Helen Condon of Stuart, FL and Parishville, NY; daughters, Connie Porteous and husband, David, of Jensen Beach, Donna McGrath and partner, Larry Turner, of Stuart, and former daughter- in-law, Jane (Rutheny) Acres, of Jensen Beach. She leaves four grandchildren; Aaron and wife, Larissa (Baker), Chad and wife, Latoya (Baker), Spencer and wife, Claudia (Bernegger), Laurie and husband, Chris McCrory, and six great grandchildren; Zack, Noah, Jake, Loretta, Jonah, and Hayln. A sister, Mabel Walker, lives in Winchester, Ontario. She was preceded in death on January 18, 1994, by her husband Gerald E. Acres. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mayes Center for Hope Administrative Headquarters, Treasure Coast Hospices, Inc., 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997.
