John A. Dragseth passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Hospice Mayes Center.

John Andrew Dragseth was born on August 26, 1923 in Redfield, South Dakota. At age 21 he enlisted in the Army and attended an Army Specialized Training Program. Sergeant John Dragseth was awarded a Bronze Star for heroic service in connection with military operations against the enemy on Okinawa Island.

Upon honorary discharge he completed a Civil Engineering degree from the School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, South Dakota. John married Dora Jane (Dode) Urton on June 21, 1948 and moved to Florida in 1949. He helped develop Whiticar Boat Works, located in Stuart, FL, into a renowned boat building and repair business. He held many positions with the company prior to retiring in 1996. John's hobbies included gardening, gem collecting and golf.

John is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dora Jane, his son Jim Dragseth (Deeva), daughter Alice Dragseth Royo (Jose); grandchildren, Jason Dragseth (Jennifer), Kristen Dragseth Sweeney (Chris), Sally Royo Rau (Ben), Anna Royo Talley (BJ) and 6 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service was held Saturday, December 2nd at the gazebo located at the Hospice Mayes Center at 1201 SE Indian St., Stuart FL 34997.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice or other charitable agency of your choice in John Dragseth's honor.
