John Jureit Obituary

John Calvin "Cal" Jureit died Sept. 9, 2005, at Martin Memorial Hospital. He was born in Baltimore and lived in Coral Gables before moving to Sewall's Point in 1998. He attended Georgia Tech in Atlanta and earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. He was a civil engineer. In 1995, he invented the Gang-Nail connector plate that was widely used in residential building. He served on the steering committee for the new South Florida Building Code, working closely with Dade County building officials. He served in the Navy Seabees during World War II for more than three years in the South Pacific as a draftsman for a relief-map making outfit. He loved theater organs and donated a Might Wurlitzer theater organ to the Lyric Theatre in Stuart. Survivors include his wife, Marie, sons, Glenn, Kenneth and Robert; and stepdaughters, Laura, Ashley and Lindsay. He was preceded in death by a wife, Mildred and a brother, William. SERVICES: A memorial celebration will be 2 p.m. Sept. 11 at the family home in Sewall's Point. Arrangements are by the Neptune Society, Palm Harbor.
