John W. Lightbody

John W. Lightbody, 65, died May 14, 2006, at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis. He was born in Detroit and lived in Stuart for 16 years, coming from Warren, Mich. He was a Vietnam War veteran, serving in the Army Medical Corps. He received his master's degree in corrections from the University of Detroit. He was a probation officer with the federal government for 20 years and later worked as a social worker of P.I.C. in West Palm Beach and Palm City Publix. He was a member of the Church of the Advent Episcopal Church in Palm City.Survivors include his wife, Sally Lightbody of Stuart; sons, Thomas J. Gallo and Matthew L. Gallo, both of Stuart, and Joseph C. Lightbody of Austin, Texas; daughters, Stephanie L. Lightbody of Austin and Laura J. Copley of Stuart; brother, James Lightbody of Grosse Pointe, Mich.; and three grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1100 E. Ocean Blvd., Stuart, FL 34996. SERVICES: A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. May 17 at the Church of the Advent Episcopal Church with the Rev. Dexter Kessler officiating. Arrangements are by Martin Funeral Home & Crematory, Stuart.
