Jon Dunn Obituary

Jon "Chip" Dunn

Stuart, FL

Jon "Chip" Dunn, husband, brother, and friend passed away on Friday, June 10, 2016 on his 59th birthday, following a brief illness, with "his gal" by his side at Martin Memorial Hospital North in Stuart.

Chip was born on June 10, 1957 to Joseph and Arlene Cline Dunn in Akron, Ohio. He relocated to Stuart, Florida when he was 18 years old and where he called home for the forty plus years.

Chip recently celebrated forty years working for the "Stuart News." This is where he met "his gal", Maureen Newsham, who he married on October 25, 1991.

Left to share stories, laughter, and Chip-isms" is his wife, Maureen; his mother, Arlene; brothers, Jeff and his wife, Pat, Mike and his wife, Cindy, and Kevin and his wife, Theresa. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, countless friends, and his Newsham Family in Michigan.

Chip was preceded in death by his beloved Pop, Joe Dunn, his sister Debbie Lee, and his faithful dog, "Shoestring".

Chip lived his life by the Golden Rule, like none other. He lived his life simply and "doing unto others", literally giving the shirt off his back. He was the first to offer help when the situation arose and the first to welcome them back to his home for refreshment and to say "job well done".

A Celebration of His Life will take place on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, 950 SE Monterey Road, Stuart, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, please honor "Chip" by doing an act of kindness or help someone in need.

Uncle Chip will be missed. I will always remember his fish frys and his willingness to do anything for you. I always looked forward to a visit with Uncle Chip and Aunt Maureen on the porch, solving the world problems. His caring spirit and zest for life was contagious.

So sorry to hear of Chip's passing, my deepest condolences to his family. I worked in Stuart News composing for 10 years and worked with Chip daily, he was a great guy always happy, even let me yell "stop the presses" a few times when a page issue occurred. God bless and hope you find comfort in the memories you hold in your heart.

To Chip's family and friends,
It was with a great sadness to hear of the untimely passing of my childhood friend. Chip was my next door neighbor in Manchester, Ohio. When he moved into the neighborhood he and I became instant friends. Even though I was 2 years younger, he never shooed me away and always encouraged me to try my best in whatever I did. Apparently this was a trait he kept throughout his all to short life. In 1974 I moved to the Carolinas and lost touch with my friend, Chip, who always made me laugh. I last saw him during the Christmas season of 1980. He was home from Florida and I was fresh out of the U.S. Army. Once again he made me laugh and we spent the evening doing just that.
Chip, rest in peace, my dear friend. Your remembrance will always bring a smile to my face and put a chuckle in my heart. The world is a lesser place without you.
