Joseph Farruggio Obituary

Joseph Albert "Joe" Farruggio, 22, died Sept. 8, 2010, in Vero Beach. He was born in Smithtown, N.Y., and lived in Sebastian for 15 years, coming from Scottsdale, Ariz. He was a 2006 graduate of Sebastian River High School. He worked in the heath care industry as an instrument sterile preparation associate and was employed by Indian River Medical Center since 2007. He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Sebastian. Survivors include his parents, Donna and Robert Farruggio of Sebastian; brothers, Rob Farruggio Jr. and Ken McDonough, both of Vero Beach; sisters, Joan Farruggio and Ashley Farruggio, both of Vero Beach; grandmothers, Helen Farruggio of Sebastian and Josephine Italiano of Huntington, N.Y.; grandfather, Jack Italiano of Vero Beach; and girlfriend, Lindsey of Fort Pierce. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Albert "Al" Farruggio. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 13075 U.S. 1, Sebastian, FL 32958. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 13 at Strunk Funeral Home in Sebastian, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Sept. 14 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church with the Rev. John Morrissey officiating. Burial will be at Sebastian Cemetery.
