I rented a room from him, and we had great time enjoying our adventures with nature. So sad to hear about his passing. I was wondering why he never replied to my email's. My condolences to his sister Penny. R.I.P

I just recently learned of Ken's passing. I bought the only house that I have ever owned and still live in from him, so that's how we met. We lost touch, but I will always remember him as a sweet, kind man with a generous spirit. My condolences to his sister Penny (who I met once) and nephew David. I know they were both very special to him.

Our barracks were only 30 apart or so, but I didn't get to know Ken until recently when he managed the 175th facebook site. We shared 50-year-old memories life at Bien Hoa, of our bit of heaven on earth, I will never forget his dazzling smile,

Ken was my best friend from the day we started school in September of 1951. After our graduation from Saratoga High School, we started college together, until Ken left to join the army and went to Vietnam. Since then, we have maintained a long-distance friendship that is a lasting bond. I am grateful that he has been a part of my journey. I have loved him as a brother, and he will always live in my heart. His character, his spirit, his grace, his humor, and his love of the natural world have always inspired me. I am thankful that he is no longer suffering and pray eternal peace for him.

Ken, I will miss you, your humor and your
wonderful knowledge of the plants on the nature walks.
But mostly I will miss my moment of panic when you claimed a senior moment and would turn to me in front of a large group and say "What is the name of this plant? " .
I will care for your Memorial Tree at TRWT and the Ariela spinosa, Hercules Club you gave me. I will remember you every time I see Old Man's Beard and, in my mind's eye, see your delight as you named it Usnea.

Thank you, Ken, for being a great guy and for caring about our environment. I will miss seeing you every Tuesday at the Lagoon Greenway. And, thank you for teaching me so much about butterflies. I will think of you each time I see one.

Sincere condolences to your entire family.

You will be missed,
Patti Radford
