Martin Harnish Obituary

Martin J. Harnish, 88, died Feb. 20, 2009, at VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach. He was born in Lebanon County, Pa., and lived in Vero Beach for 21 years, coming from Carlisle, Pa. He was the owner and operator of Harnish Tool and Machine Co., Carlisle. He served in the Navy Seabees during World War II and was a member of Navy Seabee Veterans of America Island X-10. He was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach. Survivors include his son, Martin J. Harnish Jr. of West Palm Beach; daughters, Christine Marie Wolf of Milwaukee, Wis., Dorothy Jean Harnish of Athens, Ga., Marguerite Ann Meily of Shippensburg, Pa., Carol Susan Harnish of Amissville, Va., and Anita Rose Jacobson of Tampa, brothers, Ernest Werner Harnish and Allen Earl Harnish, both of Myerstown, Pa.; sister, Mabel Irene Rhodes of Fredericksburg, Pa.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice House at VNA & Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 23 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Feb. 24 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach. Entombment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce.
